Committed to excellence in piano studies since 1967
"With music, one's whole future life is brightened. This is such a treasure in life that it helps us over many troubles and difficulties. Music is nourishment, a comforting elixir. Music multiplies all that is beautiful and of value in life."
-Zoltán Kodály
Enchanting Children With Music
Under the leadership of Dr. Michael Sheadel, The Main Line Conservatory of Music is the perfect environment for serious and gifted young pianists, ages 5 through 18. The school provides the best possible education and practical training necessary for the qualified piano student who wishes to pursue a career in music, as well as for music-loving children whose aims are non-professional.
Students at the Conservatory receive close individual training with teachers who are passionate about music and know how to reach a child through a carefully planned program designed to fit the student’s need and ability. An integral part of the piano instruction is the enrichment of the student’s musical knowledge which arouses their interest in, and appreciation of, music.
When students are ready for public performance and competitions, we provide them with a variety of performance opportunities which help them set goals, grow musically, and experience personal development through music.
The secret to our 5 decades of success in nurturing and developing the musical potential of each student is the revolutionary approach to music education pioneered by Zoltán Kodály. The infusion of the principles of Kodály music training into the piano lesson develops fluency in reading and writing music, enhances sight-reading and sight-singing, improves mental and physical co-ordination as well as pianistic technique, and enables artistic and intelligent performance - making the learning of music a joyous experience which lasts a lifetime.
